Rep. John Larson, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, recently shared his views on a new budget proposal by House Republicans through a series of tweets. His comments focused on the implications of the proposed budget and its potential impact on American families.

On February 13, 2025, Rep. Larson expressed concern over the Republican budget plan stating, "House Republicans just put out a budget. What's their plan? They want to hand out more tax cuts for the wealthy and large corporations while American families pay the price."

Continuing his critique on the same day, Larson questioned how these tax cuts would be funded, asserting that they would come at the expense of crucial social programs. He tweeted, "And how do they want to pay for their giveaway to the rich? You guessed it.... cuts to Medicaid and SNAP." He emphasized that Democrats are committed to protecting these programs from what he described as "outrageous cuts."

In another tweet posted on February 13, 2025, Larson highlighted potential negative impacts on healthcare affordability due to proposed changes in the budget. He stated that "Trump promised to lower costs, but this budget would end Affordable Care Act credits that help Americans afford their health care premiums." Specifically referencing his constituency in Connecticut's 1st District (CT-01), he noted that approximately 24,000 residents could face increased premiums by more than $1,500 annually.
